{"id":1623,"date":"2011-08-21T12:41:59","date_gmt":"2011-08-21T11:41:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/t-machine.org\/?p=1623"},"modified":"2011-08-21T15:53:28","modified_gmt":"2011-08-21T14:53:28","slug":"august-2011-googles-install-process-for-android-is-still-terrible","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/new.t-machine.org\/index.php\/2011\/08\/21\/august-2011-googles-install-process-for-android-is-still-terrible\/","title":{"rendered":"August 2011: Google&#8217;s install process for Android is still terrible"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Following <a href=\"http:\/\/t-machine.org\/index.php\/2011\/01\/06\/installingdeveloping-android-especially-on-os-x\/\">my own install-guide from Jan 2011<\/a> (because Google didn&#8217;t provide one at the time)&#8230;<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Google still doesn&#8217;t provide an install guide\n<li>Eclipse is a *little* clearer on what to download &#8211; but only slightly\n<li>Eclipse.app on Mac OS X is *still* broken\n<li>ADT is still &#8220;hidden&#8221; by Google for no good reason (my install guide still works)\n<li>Google still blocks you from downloading any &#8220;Android OS platform&#8221; (this is a core part of the SDK that is *not* included in the SDK &#8211; you need it to make Android apps)\n<\/ol>\n<p>(also, in passing, I updated the instructions to be a lot clearer \/ a bit more idiot-proof. I just used them to do a fresh install, and it went smoothly &#8211; with fewer problems than trying to use Google&#8217;s auto-installer)<\/p>\n<p>EDIT: On the plus side:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>My install guide spared me waiting for an extra 0.5Gb of Android OS platforms to download (I was able to copy\/paste them on the hard-drive, no extra install work needed.
